How to Use Hiking Trekking Poles Correctly?
If it is a simple, or a short leisure line, you can do not use trekking poles. If you are climbing a mountain for a long time, or climbing a mountain with heavy equipment, or at a high altitude, you must master some methods and skills of trekking poles. When encountering a steep slope or a route that needs to be climbed, you must not use trekking poles. You should put the trekking poles in your backpack, and it is safer to climb by grasping rocks or branches, otherwise, it will be very dangerous.
A well-used trekking pole is equal to two more legs. If it is not used properly, it will cause tired claws. Therefore, it is very important to master the correct method of using trekking poles. Lift your body at a 90-degree angle, open the lock, adjust the two nodes below the trekking pole, hold the trekking pole with the tip of the trekking pole on the ground, fasten the lock, put your hand through the wrist strap, press the strap on the tiger's mouth, and hold it tightly. Just handle it.

How to use trekking poles correctly

(1)Adjust the length of the trekking pole
①In general, three-section trekking poles have two sections that can be adjusted. First, loosen all the trekking poles.
② Extend the pole near the bottom to the maximum length, and there are scales on the trekking pole for reference.
③Stand on a flat surface with a trekking pole to adjust the length of the trekking pole, the arm hangs down naturally, take the elbow as the fulcrum, raise the forearm to 90° with the upper arm, and then adjust the tip of the mountaineering down to touch the ground; Place the tip of the stick 5-8 cm under the armpit, and then adjust the tip of the stick downward until it touches the ground.
④ Fasten all the poles of the trekking pole.
⑤ The other trekking pole that has not been adjusted can be adjusted to the same length as the one with the locked length.
⑥ When adjusting the trekking poles, the maximum adjustment length shown on the trekking poles should not be exceeded. When purchasing trekking poles, you can first adjust the length to determine whether you can buy trekking poles of suitable length.

(2)Use of wristbands
When most people use trekking poles, they hold the handle of the trekking pole tightly and apply force, thinking that the function of the wrist strap is to keep the trekking pole from leaving their wrist. If you think so, then you are wrong. The importance of the strap is no less than the strength of the trekking pole itself! Correct use of the wrist strap can effectively improve the stability of the trekking pole, thus achieving the purpose of saving effort.
First, distinguish between left and right hands. There will be different logos on the wristband, and the correct wearing should be selected according to its logo. The trekking pole can be used better only when the wrist and the wristband fit. Next, adjust the wrist strap. The wrist should be stretched in from the bottom of the wristband, and then hold the handle of the trekking pole downwards after reaching in, remember not to hold it too tightly, so as to better distribute the load of the body. Keep the wrist, wrist strap, and handle together so that it remains stable and the wrist strap works efficiently.

(3)How to operate on different terrains
The following describes the normal operation methods of using trekking poles in general, but not all of them. You can make some adjustments in the actual operation to find a suitable method for yourself, so as to fully utilize the benefits of trekking poles.
① Flat ground and gentle uphill: Take the same rhythm as usual walking, bring the trekking pole forward with the right arm and the left foot forward at the same time, but the tip of the pole should not exceed the front of the body, and then push back against the ground. The left hand interacts with the right hand to do the same action.
②Sloping steep slopes: The action is the same as normal walking, but the arms should be moved forward, and the position of the trekking poles should be placed in front of the body, and the trekking poles should be used to support the body up to reduce the pressure on the legs. If necessary, two can be used at the same time. Use trekking poles to do the climbing action. When pushing the body up, the palms can be placed on the top of the poles to strengthen the pushing force.
③ Downhill: Since the impact is relatively large, it is necessary to use trekking poles to reduce the load on the legs; the position of the trekking poles must be placed in front of the body, and the front foot must be placed on the ground to achieve the effect of sharing the force. At this time, the body It will definitely lean forward. This action is not a natural action for us to go downhill, so we should practice it often, and at the same time, we must feel how far the trekking pole should be placed in order to achieve the effect of reducing the pressure on the legs, and will not slow down the original The speed and rhythm of travel. When necessary, the length of the trekking poles can be lengthened according to personal feeling.
